The Schildkröt 1T training ball has been a consistently popular choice for school sports, introductory training, and recreational play requiring larger quantities for decades. This new version, the 1T Poly 40+, is now completely free of celluloid. Starting in July 2014, classic celluloid balls are being gradually replaced by these new plastic/poly balls in tournaments. Plastic balls now offer absolutely comparable playing characteristics and identical quality and durability. However, their production is significantly more environmentally friendly, prompting the transition initiated by the ITTF. You can identify plastic balls by the '+' symbol after the '40' (40 represents the diameter; therefore, 40+ is consistently used by all manufacturers to denote a plastic/poly ball). The 1T / T-One stands out for its excellent value. It's an affordable ball with good bounce, roundness, and durability. Packaged in a large box of 120 balls, these balls are white. Interestingly, Schildkröt's table tennis ball production dates back a long way. As early as 1896, Schildkröt developed the so-called blow-molding method in Mannheim, which is still used to manufacture the balls today. No other brand is as closely associated with the table tennis ball than Schildkröt.
